C'mon Joe, make a video showing us the transmission gears. That broken part is a shift dog from broken gear. You know the previous owner did not fix the transmission and accidently leave that piece in there. If the quad is shifting fine through all the gears and not clunking, the broken part must be from the reverse gear. (The low RPM and low speed of reversing would hide the fact that the gear was damaged.)

Yeah $30 for parts but you can’t put a price on knowledge and ability!!

I had one for a few years it was a blast and pretty fast for a 400 , never had any problems while I had it

listening to him comment on his first ride is concerning. he clearly never got that thing up on the pipe. boy is he in for a surprise because that is a yamaha zinger 259. as ronnie mac would say "sometimes they just spitcha off"

My cousin had one of those he got it brand new when we were teenagers and I had a 05 trx400ex and I would get so mad cuz he always beat me😂but guess what his broke down and mine kept going everything fell apart on my 400ex except for the engine and trans 😊

That mystery piece is driving me crazy!

I had to do the same thing to my KDX 200 after getting it back from the shop. Upon starting it, the head was leaking coolant. I took the head itself and sanded it using a glass tabletop. Not sure how it got warped at the shop, but the glass table did the trick.

that piece came from something that is clearly broken. By just what i can see the material looks to be harden metal like that from a transmission gear. I'm not knocking the repair just giving my opinion

You need to fertilize those crops pronto! Farm fields are close to inert and your plants are not looking happy.

I am not sure Tapping a Bolt in instead of replacing that case half is a proper fix. Buyer beware lol.

USPS via ebay has been terrible lately. I've had orders get to my areas sorting facility and then ship out 300 miles away only to be sent back to our sorting facility.

The fixing is good but I think the testing afterwards is more fun than the build, but it's all good in the end.

That piece definitely looks like a piece of a gear, im guessing something inside the transmission it's going to work for a few rides but once more of the gear breaks it will make a mess of the transmission
